A Photo Tour of Oatlands

Oatlands is located in Leesburg, Virginia and is one of the many homes in the area that has a connection to the Carter Family. (King Carter). I will do a post about Oatlands but for now, here is a brief picture tour of the house and grounds, indoor photography was not allowed.

A pictoral View of Andersonville Prisoner of War Camp

For about a year, from 1864-65 Andersonville held Union soldiers captured during the Civil War. It was deep in the state of Georgia in the middle of nowhere. Today, it has the National Prisoner of War Museum as well as a reconstruction of the gates of the infamous prison.

Presidential Sites: Jimmy Carter Historic Site Plains, Georgia

On Sunday, April 15, 2018,  we stopped in Plains, Ga. to visit the Jimmy Carter Historic Site. You can visit several different sites in town including the High School which has the museum and visitor center.  I need to warn you the Plains, is not near anything, it was over 60 miles off of I85 and the road to get there has to be one of the most boring roads we have ever driven on. Having said that, do it anyway, it is so worth it.

At the high school, the National Park Department suggested that we go to the farm first since our time was very limited and I am glad they would, it was wonderful.
